The Committee on Mutagenicity of Chemicals in Food, Consumer Products and the Environment (COM) is an independent advisory committee which provides independent advice to government departments and agencies.
The Secretary of State is seeking to appoint a high calibre candidate who is able to provide scientific advice and has sound knowledge and proven national and international expertise in all aspects of mutagenicity testing and chemical mutagen risk assessment.
Chair

The Chair will provide leadership to the Committee and its members to ensure that it provides the best possible advice on this critical area within the terms of the COM. Meetings will take place three times per year in London.
The Chair of COM will also be an ex-officio Member on the Committee on Carcinogenicity of Chemicals in Food, Consumer Products and the Environment. That committee will also meet separately three times per year.
Remuneration and allowances
The Chair will receive £158 per meeting attended, plus a reading fee of £40. Allowances for travel and subsistence are payable, where appropriate.
Closing and interview dates
The closing date for applications is 12 noon on 13 September 2012. Interviews will take place during September 2012.
