Following the recent appointment of Sir Keith Pearson as the Chair of Health Education England, the Secretary of State for Health is seeking to appoint up to four non executive directors. Health Education England (HEE) is a new special health authority, which is due to be established on 28 June 2012. HEE will provide national leadership to secure an effective education system for health services in England and will be accountable for the investment of education and training resources; currently £4.9 billion per year, to deliver a workforce that provide better health outcomes and health improvement.
Non executive directors

The primary role of the non executive directors will be to contribute to the work of the board, both in the context of the board meetings themselves and more widely. Ideal candidates will have achieved prominence in their field and be recognised and respected by their peers. Candidates will also need to demonstrate their commitment to NHS values and their ability to guide the strategic direction of Health Education England.
Remuneration and pay
Non executive directors will receive £7,883 for a time commitment of approximately two to three days a month.
The Secretary of State for Health determines the length of appointments, which will be for up to a maximum of four years.
