The Secretary of State for Health is seeking to appoint five new members, for the Advisory Committee on the Safety of Blood, Tissues and Organs (SaBTO), with a record of achievement at senior level in the following fields:
- Haematologist
- IVF / fertility / stem cell specialist
- Microbiologist / bacteriologist
- Patient representative
- Regenerative medicine specialist
SaBTO aims to include among its members a balanced mix of qualities, skills and experience and where possible, geographical representation from all parts of the UK.
Time and pay
The Committee meets up to four times per year in London, and usually holds one open meeting. Additional days may be required for sub-committee work or for ad hoc meetings.
These posts are not remunerated but members are eligible to claim allowances at rates set centrally for travel and subsistence.
