The Secretary of State for Health is seeking to appoint up to four non executive directors to the NHS Trust Development Authority (NHS TDA), one of whom will chair the audit committee and one who will chair the appointments committee.  We have recently appointed the chair, Sir Peter Carr, to the NHS TDA which became a special health authority on 1 June 2012. The NHS TDA will play a vital part in laying the foundations for a new health and social care system that will provide essential governance and oversight of NHS trusts that are not yet foundation trusts.

Non executive directors

Reference number SP12-14

The primary role of the non executive directors will be to support the chair by contributing to the wider governance and leadership of the board and play a part in representing the body externally. Candidates will also need to demonstrate sound judgement to their commitment to NHS values as outlined in the NHS Constitution.

Remuneration and pay

Non executive directors will receive £7,883 for a time commitment of between two to three days per month.

Appointments to the NHS TDA will be for terms of up to four years or to the closure of the NHS TDA, whichever date is the sooner.
